Mentorship
All new graduate employees are provided with weekly 1 hour 1:1 mentorship with a senior in their field over the course of 12 months. New graduates have access to their senior mentor outside of this regularly booked session and beyond the 12 months, have ongoing access to mentoring.
Caseload
New graduates will begin supporting their clients on week three of their commencement at JJAH. The first two weeks consists of full-time shadowing and learning the ropes. From week three, new graduates are expected to see 3 clients a day. We work on a 4 week rotating roster where our team members see clients 5 days a week for two weeks of the four, and then either have an admin day or RDO on the other two. These weeks are alternating to ensure you do not have 5 client-facing day weeks back-to-back.
From this point, the goal is an increase of 1 client per week every 2 weeks until the new graduate is seeing 4 clients a day. From there, the increase of 1 client per week occur every 4 weeks until the full case-load of 5 day for all clinical days is met. The rotation of having an admin day or RDO every fortnight will continue regardless of participation in the grad program.
At the rate specified above, graduates will achieve the full capacity over the course of 30 weeks, approximately 6.5 months. These targets are designed to allow the new graduate the time and space to understand their clients needs, find and fill any gaps of knowledge while also providing high quality service to the client.
Prior to the target time approaching, the new graduate and their mentor will work with the new graduate to ensure they are ready prior to the increase. This ensures any extra support that is needed is provided. Any part time graduates will have the total number of clients scaled proportionally to their part time hours.
